Mental health support for adults encountering uncertainty in moments of significant transition.
I'm retired. Now what?
*
What if there is more to this life?
*
Why didn't anyone tell me how difficult perimenopause would be?
*
Now that my kids are gone, who am I?
*
What if this isn't the love of my life?
*
What is my purpose?

We are no strangers to the ebbs and flows, the swells and dips, of this unpredictable journey called life.
We cannot control the storms.
But..
We can learn to surf.
We can learn to read the maps.
We can chart our own course.
We can seek shelter from the storm.
We can navigate our way home.
Activating your inner lighthouse takes curiosity, courage, and tenacity. It can also require calling in a co-pilot. If you are ready to delve beneath the surface to identify your values and purpose that will provide a steady anchor, let’s talk.
I am
Andrea Ting-Luz.
I walk in the world as a perimenopausal, cisgender, heterosexual female, a once-divorced and twice-married spouse, an acculturated person of colour, a first-generation child of Chinese-Filipino-Spanish immigrants, an unapologetic feminist determined to include the masculine in the conversation, a staunch ally of the queer and trans community, and an activist committed to disrupting the cycles of violence and intergenerational trauma.
I am a Counsellor-In-Training, currently completing a Master’s in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University, with an expected graduation in the summer of 2026. I am currently fulfilling my practicum requirements in preparation for accreditation as an Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
I provide counselling services to individuals and couples under the supervision of BCACC members Frances Kinloch, RCC and Stefanie Krasnow, RCC.
I believe…
We spend much of our lives in the doing rather than the being of our humanness. And then one day, when we finally feel like adults, some unanticipated shift happens. Menopause. A break-up. A job loss. Divorce. Retirement. Illness. Injury. An empty nest. An aging parent. An unexpected attraction. An affair. We find ourselves questioning the very essence of our identities.
Who am I, now that I am not that?
What is my purpose?
What comes next?
I am committed to collaborating with my clients to unravel the answers to these questions.
My approach
My approach to counselling is an inclusive, empowering, and embodied integration of therapeutic skills and insights to ignite adults to uncover your values, clarify and communicate your emotional needs, develop body-based awareness and practices to self-regulate, navigate moments of grief and acceptance, and take committed action to live according to your values and your purpose.
As a counsellor-in-training, I am actively pursuing additional trainings including:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Individuals
Internal Family Systems
Narrative Therapy
Somatic Therapy
Menopause Mental Health Care Practitioner Certification
and more…
